Kinder Welcome Plans and runs the Kinder Meet and Greet Popsicle Party. Timing: Planning starts Last week of school, picks back up late August (A week before school starts).
Fit Fest Helps plan our biggest fundraiser, Fit Fest, a day where we celebrate fitness and get to explore different athletic activities. Coordinate day of activities, fundraising and sponsorships. Timing: Fundraising efforts gearing up to the event begin in early January. The in-person event is scheduled in March.
Reflections Art Reflections is the National PTA’s art contest. Develop a Reflections Program planning calendar using district PTA due dates, promote the program, send information home, collect all the submissions, find impartial judges, plan the reception and submit to state PTA. Timing: October/November.
May Day Baskets Every May 1st, Kettering distributes may day flower baskets to every house in our local neighborhood. Help teachers coordinate supplies and classroom basket-making. Timing: Last week of April through May 1st distribution (or nearest school day to May 1st). (Should thai be room parent, and not included here?)
Teacher Appreciation: Throughout the year, the PTA tries to remind the teachers and staff how much they are appreciated. This committee coordinates and schedules teacher appreciation events throughout the year, including Winter break and Teacher Appreciation Week in May.
Book Fair We hold 2 Scholastic book fairs each year at Kettering. Promote, coordinate parent volunteer sign-ups, run the daily operations and set up/take down fair. Timing: Book Fairs are typically in September and March.
Carnival The Carnival is our most exciting event of the year. This chairperson is responsible for organizing and gathering a team of volunteers to help coordinate all aspects of the school carnival. This committee will organize theme, activities, games, sponsorship, food and ticket sales, and teacher time raffle for the event. The carnival typically takes place in May.
Trunk or Treat This is our most exciting Fall event! Kettering families decorate their vehicle trunks and pass out candy and treats for Kettering and community children. The committee will get Kettering families or local sponsors to sign up, facilitate candy donations and purchases, and coordinate the day of operations. Timing: Friday before Halloween.
Kettering Dance Night Every February we host a family dance night, for kids and parents. This committee will plan the theme, book the vendors, promote the event and coordinate day of activities. Timing: Typically in February.
Variety Show In the Spring, Kettering PTA hosts a variety/talent show. Plan for and direct an annual Talent Show consisting of Kettering student performers. Determine tryout guidelines, dates, and times, show date, and rehearsal dates and times with the principal and PTA president, and promote the event. Timing: March.
KIDS around the world The International Festival is an opportunity for our school community to share their culture and heritage. Families volunteer a country and set up a booth about it. On the day of, students and their families walk around from country to country, learning about them and sampling foods or treats. This committee will coordinate cultural teams to ensure a broad representation of the various cultures at our school, and facilitate the day of schedule. Timing: In January.
Membership PTA membership is so important to getting our school family together. Help the membership chair with promoting membership at some of the first events of the year. Help coordinate any incentive prizes that are reached. Timing: primarily Aug-October.
Family Programming Activities are scheduled to provide families and friends an opportunity to socialize after school hours. Among the planned activities may be a science night, winter family night, math night, sports night, and more. This committee will help plan and organize a variety of family nights throughout the year. Timing: Ongoing.
Silent Auction Silent Auction is your chance to win some great prizes donated by local businesses and members of the Kettering community. This committee will help find the donations from parents and local businesses, organize an in person and online auction, promote the event and be there to facilitate on the day of. Timing: Fundraising efforts begin in early January. The Silent Action is typically held during Carnival in May. As time permits, this year, it may be included as a part of another event held earlier in the year.)
Movie Nights Outdoor movie nights are typically held in the fall and spring. The chair selects a movie, advertises the movie, coordinates the movie setup, and organizes popcorn and/or candy. This position requires one or two short-term commitments.
Used Book Sales Work with school library and community to source donations for the used book sale, promote event and find volunteers to run the sales. Timing: Once a year, date TBD.
Kite Day This is a fun community event where we open campus on a weekend day and invite neighbors and Kettering families to fly kites. Committee will plan and promote event, coordinate with local kite shop to have kites on hand, and facilitate day-of activities. TIming: Sunday at the end of April.
5th Grade Committee Each year, fifth grade parents provide several special outings designed to promote class spirit and memories for students during their last year at Kettering. Projects include: beach day, picnic, variety show, 5th Grade Promotion Ceremony, and goodbye gift to beautify our campus. Timing: Ongoing but mainly towards the end of the year.
Campus Beautification The Chairpersons will recruit volunteers to maintain and enhance the grounds and landscaping around the school. Timing: Ongoing as needed.
Fundraising A Committee that works closely with the VP Ways and Means to help find local community partners for our school. Assist Silent Auction and Fit Fest committees as needed. Timing: Ongoing, as needed. The Committee's work will begin in early November and will conclude at the end of the academic year.
