Our PTA is powered by amazing volunteers, and our volunteer needs are diverse.
Without this help, we can't make our events happen or offer the support our teachers, staff, and students deserve.
There are various opportunities offered year-round, and they are typically posted on the Band app.
All PTA members are automatically added to the PTA Band, where schoolwide news and updates are posted regularly.
Not a member of your child's Class Band yet?
Find it by searching for the year they'll graduate 5th grade.
Not all volunteer opportunities require VIPS* (Volunteer In Public Schools) status, although we recommend becoming a VIPS since it offers the widest range of volunteer options.
All adults who volunteer on-campus during school hours or who chaperone fields trips must complete a VIPS application and be approved. While the process is simple, keep in mind it may take several weeks for applications to be processed.
Learn more about VIPS or submit an application.
*note: VIPS are certified by LBUSD, not by Kettering or the PTA
LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Room Parents help build a strong classroom community by partnering with teachers to keep families connected, support classroom needs, create fun experiences for students, and be a PTA Board liaison.
Each classroom has two Co-Room Parents who work together throughout the school year. Room Parents must be PTA members and cleared as VIPS by October.
Interest forms/applications are available at the beginning of each school year and are due within the first few weeks of school. If more than two parents apply for a class, selections will be based on application responses and, if needed, a first-come, first-served basis. Parents can apply for multiple classrooms but can only serve as Room Parent for one classroom.

.:. Program Chairs .:.
Program Chairs and Committee Members are typically selected at the end of the school year to serve the following school year. If you're interested in participating in a program or committee, please inquire with the PTA Board at the beginning of the school year.
PTA Board Members/Positions require nomination, a process that usually begins in January/February. Members of the school community can suggest candidates for various positions or can request that they themselves be added to the ballot by emailing parliamentarian@ketteringpta.org. All nominees must be active PTA members.
A nominating committee is then formed to review the nominations and ensure that candidates meet necessary qualifications. The committee presents a slate of candidates to the PTA membership, who then vote to elect the new board members during a general meeting. Unless extenuating circumstances arise, voting is done in early spring for positions that will serve the following school year.
This election process ensures that the board is comprised of dedicated individuals committed to supporting the school's mission and activities.
